"The Lord bless you and keep you. The Lord make His face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you. The Lord look upon you with favor and give you peace."
This past Sunday, November 30, marked the Christian entry into a new year, with the beginning of Advent. This is the season where we hear about God's many preparations and promises regarding the sending of Jesus, the Christ child, to be born in the manger, to come and set this world free from sin, death, and the power of the devil.
Throughout Advent, we hear about God's promise in Jesus. We hear how God had promised to send His Son, and how God gave the details so that we would know when He had done this. We even hear a little bit about what God's Son would do during His time in this world, though much of that is reserved for another season, that of Lent. But we also give thanks that God prepared the way to actually live among us, walking among us, to literally be a God with us (Immanuel!).
Over the next few weeks, as we approach Christmas, I'll be posting about Adventy kind of things. That is, I intend to do that as often as I can. Many of you reading this may know that my family is expecting the birth of a son into our family, which could happen any day now. So, if for some reason you don't see any new posts for a few days, that is the likely reason why. As I said, that event could happen any day now!
But as we prepare for our remembrance and celebration of the birth of the Christ child, I pray for a blessed Advent for each of you!
